As well as offering a whole house assessment, People Powered Retrofit offers diagnostic surveys to support planning and designing improvements for your home.

This survey uses a thermal imaging camera to identify heat loss and check the thermal performance of a building. It can help show whether insulation is missing or patchy in cavity walls, timber frames and roofs, and can identify thermal bridges around openings and structures. It can only be carried out in winter, when there is a clear temperature difference between inside and outside.

This survey uses a small camera to inspect spaces that are otherwise inaccessible. It is mainly used to check whether cavity wall insulation is possible. Small holes are drilled so the camera can view the cavity. It can also be used to inspect roof spaces, chimney voids and subfloor areas, or to check existing insulation behind plasterboard.

This is a blower door test that uses a large fan fixed into an external doorway to pressurise or depressurise the home. It helps identify where air leaks are, so they can be sealed as part of improvement works. It is often used alongside thermal imaging or a smoke pencil to make draughts easier to locate. It can also help inform heating system design.
